Trabectedin is an anti-tumor drug that is mainly used to treat soft tissue sarcoma and ovarian cancer. It is a natural compound that was originally discovered in the 1960s by Spanish scientists from the marine tunicate Ecteinascidia turbinata.
The drug has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of advanced soft tissue sarcoma and relapsed ovarian cancer. Trabectedin works by binding to the DNA in cancer cells and preventing them from dividing and growing.
